LANDS & RESOURCES
Documenting change on territory, supporting referral responses, and building a record that holds up when it needs to.
A drone program is a long relationship, not a transaction. Most of the value shows up in year two and year three. Once your pilots are certified, the workflow is routine, and the data record has enough history to show change over time.
That shapes how we work. We ask about you, your territory, your needs, and together we find the custom solutions to help your specific situation, before we talk about aircraft. We build the program around the people who will actually be flying it. And we plan for what happens after the first season, because a program that stops when the first grant runs out was never really a program.
FROM OUR TRAINING VISIT WITH SIX NATIONS
Our training specialist and the team on what a week of hands-on certification training actually involves, what pilots practiced, and what people were flying by the end of it.
Every program starts with a conversation about the land, the questions your Nation needs answered, and who in the community will be flying.
Referrals and development on territory, water and habitat, cultural sites, infrastructure, emergency response. We build from what matters to your community.
Aircraft, sensors, and software matched to the work. Who gets trained, what certification they need, and what the program costs to run past year one.
Scoping and quoting documentation your team can take to council or attach to a funding application.
Training delivered in community where possible, a certification pathway for your pilots, and a Canadian support team after the program is running.
Most communities do not need someone to sell them a drone. They need the part that comes before and after training, certification, workflow, data handling, and someone to call when it matters.
Documenting change on territory, supporting referral responses, and building a record that holds up when it needs to.
Covering ground with fewer crew days. Monitoring water, habitat, access, and activity on the land.
Standing up a service capability that generates revenue and employs community members.
Wildfire, flood, and infrastructure response. Situational awareness early, documentation afterward.
A drone program is not a one-time purchase. Built properly, it leaves the community with trained people, a repeatable workflow, and a data record the Nation owns outright.
Habitat, shoreline, water crossings, and seasonal change, documented consistently over time.
Independent documentation of activity on territory, on your timeline rather than someone else’s.
Roads, housing, water systems, and community buildings, inspected without scaffolding or road closures.
Six packages built around real community priorities — stewardship, protection, remote logistics, and NDAA compliance — not a straight cost ladder
Communities beginning a drone program — boundary mapping, land surveys, and building local flying capacity.
Land guardians monitoring forest health, water sources, and wildlife populations across the territory.
Seasoned drone programs and GIS teams needing survey-grade topographic and forestry data across large territories.
Continuous protection of sacred and culturally significant sites from unauthorized access — day or night, without a pilot on site.
Delivering medical supplies, tools, and essential goods to roadless or seasonally-isolated communities.
For communities or partner agencies where funding conditions or data-sovereignty concerns call for non-DJI hardware.
FEATURED APPLICATION
When a fire starts near the community, the first question is where it is and where it is going. A thermal-equipped drone flown by a trained community pilot answers that in minutes, without waiting on an aircraft from elsewhere.
The same capability supports flood monitoring, search coordination, and documentation after the event.
Equipment without trained pilots becomes equipment in a closet. Candrone delivers practical and on-going training through Candrone Academy and in person, with a pathway to Transport Canada certification for community pilots.
Where travel allows, training happens in community so more people can take part, and the session reflects the terrain your team actually works in.
OUR COMMITMENTS
These apply whether or not you ever become a customer.
We do not hold, host, or access data your team collects unless you ask us to.
No name, territory, photo, or story appears in our materials without written consent, and consent can be withdrawn.
If your community appears in our content, you see it and approve it before it goes anywhere.
Any story here is on this page because the community asked for it to be.
VERTICAL EXPERT
Michelle works directly with Indigenous governments, communities, and Indigenous-owned businesses across Canada. She will walk through what a program looks like for your community, what it costs to run, and what it takes to keep it going.
Your Nation does. The aircraft, the flights, and the data belong to the community. We can advise on storage and workflow, but we do not hold, host, or access your data unless you ask us to.
For many forestry inventory, mapping, and monitoring workflows, yes. We assess your required coverage, accuracy, terrain, and deliverables before recommending a replacement program.
Certification requirements depend on the aircraft, operation, and airspace. Candrone Academy provides Transport Canada Basic and Advanced RPAS training and helps teams understand their operational requirements.
Outputs can be configured for ArcGIS, QGIS, LiDAR360, forestry cruise software, and other GIS platforms using common formats such as LAS, LAZ, DTM, DSM, and orthomosaics.
Most clients are flying within two to three weeks of order, depending on equipment availability, configuration, training, and certification requirements.
Rental and demonstration options may be available depending on the required platform and project. Contact our team with your timeline and use case.
We recommend rugged systems suited to Canadian field conditions, including remote sites and cold-weather operations, while accounting for manufacturer operating limits and battery performance.
Drone programs provide current, high-resolution, application-specific data on demand. ROI depends on area, flight frequency, data requirements, and the cost of delays or lower-resolution alternatives.
Tell us what you are trying to monitor, document, or protect. We will walk through what a program would look like, what it takes to run, and what it would cost before you commit to anything.
