Overview and Who It's For

The Candrone RPAS Training and Advanced Pilot Certification Bundle is a complete certification pathway for individuals who need to obtain their Transport Canada Advanced RPAS Pilot Certificate and are starting without prior drone flight experience or formal training.

The bundle moves students through three sequential components. The self-paced online ground school covers all TP-15263 knowledge requirements for both Basic and Advanced certification at approximately 16 hours of study. The outdoor flight coaching session translates that knowledge into hands-on aircraft control and safe operational practice at our Langley field. The in-person flight review -- conducted by a Candrone Transport Canada certified reviewer -- is the final step required by Transport Canada to obtain Advanced certification.

All in-person components are held at Candrone's dedicated examination field in Langley, BC. Students travelling from outside the Lower Mainland are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.

Best suited for:

  • Individuals entering professional drone operations in public safety, forestry, inspection, energy, indigenous land management, or any field where Advanced RPAS certification is required or expected
  • Professionals upgrading from uncertified to Advanced certified who need a structured, guided path rather than self-directed study alone
  • Pairs of colleagues or teammates getting certified together -- the outdoor coaching session accommodates two persons per booking

Training and Certification

Operating under Transport Canada's basic RPAS rules requires a valid Basic Pilot Certificate. Candrone Academy offers online ground school and exam prep for pilots looking to get certified or upgrade to Advanced.

For teams deploying this aircraft in public safety or professional contexts, Advanced RPAS Certification unlocks operations near people and in controlled airspace commonly required for municipal, SAR, and emergency services use.

FAQs

Do I need any prior drone experience to enrol? No. This bundle is designed for beginners. The online ground school starts from the beginning and covers everything required for Transport Canada certification. The outdoor coaching session then builds practical flight skills before your flight review.

What is the difference between Basic and Advanced RPAS certification? A Basic RPAS Pilot Certificate allows flight in uncontrolled airspace away from people under standard daylight conditions. Advanced certification unlocks operations near people, in controlled airspace, and under broader conditions -- required for most professional and enterprise deployments. The flight review included in this bundle is the Transport Canada requirement for Advanced certification.

Is the flight review included or do I book it separately? The flight review is included in the bundle. Once your ground school and outdoor coaching are complete, your flight review is booked and conducted by a Candrone certified reviewer at the Langley field as part of this package.

Can two people complete this bundle from a single purchase? The outdoor flight coaching session accommodates up to two persons per booking. The online ground school and flight review components are individual -- each person requires their own enrolment for those components. Contact our team to confirm bundle pricing for two students.

Where exactly is the training field? All in-person sessions take place at Candrone's examination field in Langley, BC. Contact our team for the exact address and any access details when confirming your booking.
