Emlid Reach LoRa Antenna - RS3 / RS2+ / RS2 / RS+
The Emlid Reach LoRa Antenna enables the built-in LoRa radio on the RS3, RS2+, RS2, and RS+ to transmit and receive RTK corrections at distances up to 8 km, keeping base-to-rover workflows running in areas where cellular coverage is unavailable.
- Required for LoRa radio operation -- never leave site without a spare -- The LoRa antenna must be attached before the built-in radio can function. A missing or damaged antenna grounds your base-to-rover correction link entirely and should be treated as a critical field consumable.
- Up to 8 km base-to-rover range without cellular -- The 868/915 MHz LoRa link covers most open field and forestry survey baselines, delivering RTK corrections between base and rover without an NTRIP connection or SIM card.
- Compatible across the full Reach RS family -- Works with the RS3, RS2+, RS2, RS+, and original RS, as well as the Reach M+ external LoRa radio module on UAV and mobile platforms.
- The same antenna that ships with the RS3 and RS2+ -- This is Emlid's official replacement part -- identical to the antenna included in new RS3 and RS2+ boxes.
Overview and Who It's For
The Reach LoRa Antenna attaches to the LoRa antenna port on the RS3, RS2+, RS2, RS+, and original RS receivers and enables the built-in LoRa radio to transmit and receive RTK correction data between base and rover units at distances up to 8 km line-of-sight. Without it connected, the LoRa radio cannot function.
It is also compatible with the Reach M+ external LoRa radio module, making it a single spare part that covers both static receivers and UAV or mobile mapping platforms running the M+ LoRa module.
At 50g and low cost relative to the operational consequence of a failed correction link, this antenna should be standard stock in every field kit running Emlid receivers on base-rover workflows without cellular coverage.
Important: Never power on the LoRa radio without the antenna attached. Operating the radio without an antenna can damage the radio module.
Best suited for:
- Surveying and Mapping -- Replacement or spare antenna for base-rover RTK setups operating in areas without cellular network access
- Forestry and Environmental -- Remote site surveys where LoRa radio is the primary correction delivery method due to absent cell coverage
- Mining -- Field operations at exploration or active mine sites where LTE connectivity is limited or unavailable

Training and Certification
No Transport Canada RPAS certification is required to operate this antenna or any Emlid Reach receiver as a ground-based GNSS unit.
For teams integrating Emlid receivers into drone mapping or LiDAR ground control workflows, Transport Canada RPAS certification requirements apply to the aircraft being flown. Candrone Academy offers online ground school and exam prep for pilots looking to get certified or upgrade to Advanced.
For teams deploying in public safety or professional contexts, Advanced RPAS Certification unlocks operations near people and in controlled airspace commonly required for municipal, SAR, and emergency services use.

FAQs
Do I need this antenna to use the LoRa radio on my RS2+ or RS3? Yes. The LoRa antenna must be attached before the built-in radio can transmit or receive. Never power on the LoRa radio without the antenna connected -- operating without an antenna can damage the radio module.
What happens if the antenna is lost or damaged in the field? The LoRa radio link goes down entirely. You would need to switch to NTRIP corrections via LTE or adjust your correction method on site. Keeping a spare in every field kit avoids this scenario -- it is a low-cost item with a high operational consequence.
Is this the same antenna that ships with the RS2+ and RS3? Yes. This is Emlid's official replacement part -- the same antenna included with new RS3 and RS2+ receivers at time of purchase. SKU: ANT-LORA-2.
Does it work with the Reach M+ LoRa radio module? Yes. The antenna is also compatible with the external Reach M+ LoRa radio module used on UAV platforms and mobile mapping rigs.
Can I use a third-party LoRa antenna for extended range? Higher-gain third-party antennas with an RP-SMA connector at 868/915 MHz can extend range beyond 8 km for specific applications. Contact our Solutions team for recommendations if your workflow requires coverage beyond the standard range.
