Emlid

Reach RS3 UHF antenna 410-470 MHz

$69.00 CAD

The Emlid Reach RS3 UHF Antenna enables the RS3's built-in 410-470 MHz UHF radio to receive RTK corrections from third-party base stations, giving field teams access to existing UHF survey infrastructure without changing their base station setup or adding a separate correction device.

  • Receive RTK corrections from existing UHF base station networks -- If your site or organisation already operates Trimble, Topcon, or other TRIMTALK 450S-compatible UHF base stations, this antenna lets the RS3 receive corrections from them directly -- no secondary NTRIP connection required.
  • Required to activate the RS3's built-in UHF radio -- The UHF radio in the RS3 cannot function without this antenna attached. It is a required purchase for any workflow relying on UHF correction input.
  • RS3-only -- not compatible with RS2+ or RS2 -- The UHF radio is exclusive to the RS3. This antenna has no function on any other Emlid receiver.
  • Reliable long-range communication across 410-470 MHz -- Optimised for the RS3's UHF radio band, delivering stable correction reception across the full 410.0-475.0 MHz operating range in open field and complex terrain environments.

Overview and Who It's For

The RS3 UHF Antenna connects to the dedicated UHF antenna port on the Emlid Reach RS3 and enables its built-in UHF radio to receive RTK correction data from third-party base stations broadcasting over 410-470 MHz using the TRIMTALK 450S protocol. This is a receive-only function -- the RS3 does not transmit on UHF, but can ingest corrections from any compatible base station and use them for centimetre-accurate RTK positioning.

This workflow is designed for teams integrating the RS3 into environments where legacy 450 MHz UHF base station infrastructure is already deployed -- common on large construction sites, established survey networks, mining operations, and municipal survey programs running Trimble or Topcon equipment. Configuration is handled in the Emlid Flow app by matching the rover frequency and bandwidth to the base station's broadcast settings.

The UHF radio and this antenna are exclusive to the Reach RS3. The RS2+ does not have a UHF radio and cannot use this antenna.

Best suited for:

  • Surveying and Mapping -- Teams working alongside existing TRIMTALK 450S-compatible UHF base station networks, or mixing Emlid and legacy equipment in the same fleet
  • Mining -- Active mine sites with established 450 MHz survey base station infrastructure where the RS3 needs to receive corrections without cellular connectivity
  • Infrastructure and Construction -- Sites where UHF base stations are the correction delivery standard and adding an NTRIP connection is impractical

Training and Certification

No Transport Canada RPAS certification is required to operate this antenna or the Reach RS3 as a ground-based GNSS receiver.

For teams integrating the RS3 into drone mapping or LiDAR ground control workflows, Transport Canada RPAS certification requirements apply to the aircraft being flown. Candrone Academy offers online ground school and exam prep for pilots looking to get certified or upgrade to Advanced.

For teams deploying in public safety or professional contexts, Advanced RPAS Certification unlocks operations near people and in controlled airspace commonly required for municipal, SAR, and emergency services use.

FAQs

Will this antenna work with the RS2+ or RS2? No. The UHF radio is exclusive to the Reach RS3. This antenna has no function on the RS2+, RS2, RS+, or any other Emlid receiver.

What base stations are compatible? Any base station transmitting RTK corrections in RTCM3 format over the TRIMTALK 450S protocol in the 410-470 MHz band -- including Trimble base stations and other legacy UHF systems supporting the TRIMTALK 450S standard. Confirm compatibility with your base station documentation or site manager before purchasing.

Can the RS3 transmit corrections over UHF? No. The RS3's UHF radio is receive-only. For base-to-rover correction transmission without cellular coverage, the RS3's built-in LoRa radio (868/915 MHz, up to 8 km) is the correct tool -- see the Reach RS3 LoRa Antenna.

How do I configure the UHF link? Open the Emlid Flow app, connect to the RS3, and navigate to Correction input. Set the frequency and bandwidth in the UHF cell to match your base station. Data rate is automatic based on bandwidth: 9600 bit/s at 25 kHz or 4800 bit/s at 12.5 kHz.

Do I need a radio licence to use this antenna? The RS3 is receive-only and does not require a transmit licence. However, the base station transmitter operating in the 400 MHz band may require an ISED licence in Canada. Confirm with your base station operator before deployment.
