Transport Canada's Level 1 Complex certification is a requirement for low-risk BVLOS drone operations in Canada — and it starts with 20 hours of ground school. Candrone Academy's Level 1 Complex Ground School covers everything you need to prepare for your low-risk BVLOS drone operations by expanding on the material from the Drone Pilot Ground School. • Prepares you for the Transport Canada Level 1 Complex Online Exam: The course is structured around the Transport Canada Level 1 Complex Online Exam — flight planning, air law, meteorology, RPAS components, navigation, and flight operations.
• Covers the 20-hour ground school prerequisite: Transport Canada requires every drone pilot pursuing their Level 1 Complex certification to complete at least 20 hours of ground school before the flight review can be conducted. At the end of this course, you will receive a completion certificate to present to your flight reviewer.
• Self-paced online: You’ll be able to access the course from your home and complete the curriculum on your own schedule — no fixed class times, no waiting for a cohort to start.
• Note: This online course does not include the Transport Canada Online Exam. Each exam attempt must be purchased separately through Transport Canada.

• All Canadians: Complete the required 20 hours of online ground school from anywhere in Canada, then schedule your flight review with a local Transport Canada-certified flight reviewer.
• Students beginning the Candrone certification pathway: Students who will go on to complete a flight review for full Level 1 Complex certification at our training field in Langley, BC.
